Saturday Educational Sessions

Before You Answer, Ask
Presented by Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board
Saturday, January 7, 10:00 a.m.
At events where consumers interact with farmers, there are bound to be questions. Why do you do this? What happens when...? Is that a bull? (And, of course, that last one is asked of your blue-ribbon-winning heifer. Sheesh!) Sometimes those questions can be followed by a quick answer. Other times, you need more information to really answer the question properly. This session will focus on listening to the consumer and getting to the real question so you can provide them with accurate information.

Brown Cows and Chocolate Milk
Presented by Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board
Saturday, January 7, 2:00 p.m.
We've all heard that age-old comment from fairgoers, "chocolate milk comes from brown cows." While we all would like to think they are making a joke, some of them really don't know where chocolate milk comes from. Let's talk about some of the questions and comments you've heard at the fair and how to best answer them.

Saturday Feature Speakers - Brenda Murphy
Brenda Murphy grew up as one of you - a junior Holstein member! From a small Registered Holstein farm in southern Wisconsin, she now works for the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) as director of Producer Communications and Programs. One aspect of her role at WMMB is to help producers tell their story and answer consumers' questions.

Saturday Feature Speakers - Vicki Janisch
Vicki Janisch and husband Kenny along with their three-year-old daughter Abbi help on her family's 60-cow Registered Holstein dairy, Moss-Oak Farm. At WMMB, Vicki works closely with AmericasDairyland.com and other WMMB supported websites. In addition, she's assists in managing WMMB's social channels and answering consumers' questions about dairy farming and foods on those platforms.
